Every app on this page is built by one small studio, and none of them charge a subscription. That is not a promotion or a launch-week discount; it is the pricing model. An app is either free with every feature included, or it is a one-time purchase you pay once and keep. There is no monthly tier, no annual plan, no "Pro" upsell that appears after you have entered your data, and no trial that quietly converts.
Here is what "no subscription" actually means in practice. You download the app, you use it, and it keeps working whether or not you ever open the App Store again. Your data stays in the app's own storage on your iPhone. Almost every app on this list also runs fully offline and asks for no account, because the two things usually go together: an app that needs a server to function eventually needs a subscription to pay for that server.
It also means giving something up. Because these apps do not run a backend, they do not sync to the cloud on their own. If you want your data on a second device, you export it (most apps here export CSV or a plain file) or use iCloud's own device backup. There is no web dashboard, no shared team workspace, and no "log in on any device" promise. For a single-purpose app you use on one phone, that trade is usually the right one. For something you genuinely need across a team, it is not, and we say so on each app page.
Why price this way? Subscriptions make sense for software with real recurring costs. A row counter, a gold ledger or a medication log has none: it costs the same to run in year three as on day one. Charging monthly for it means charging for the habit, not the software. One-time pricing keeps the incentives honest. We get paid when the app is worth installing, and updates are funded by new people finding it, not by making the existing version harder to leave.
