Questions
- Is Keystride free?
- Yes. Every lesson, test, game and chart is free, with no ads. Signing in with Google only saves your progress so you can keep climbing levels.
- How is typing speed (WPM) measured?
- A word is counted as five characters, including spaces. Net WPM counts only the characters you typed correctly; raw WPM counts every key you pressed.
- What is a good typing speed?
- Most adults type around 40–50 WPM. Above 70 WPM is fast, and above 90 WPM puts you among the fastest typists. Kids in grade 3 often type 10–15 WPM and reach 30–40 by grade 8.
- Can kids use Keystride?
- Yes. The kids track uses gentler speed targets and friendly word lists, and kids never appear on public leaderboards.
- Do I need an account?
- No. Try a speed test, the games and the first lessons right away. Sign in with Google to unlock all 11 levels, save your scores and see your progress over time.
