Snug is out. Can you get past level 10?

Every pet needs a home. That is the whole game. Snug reached Google Play on November 3 and the App Store today, November 5, which means our cozy logic puzzle now runs on iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch and Android phones. Here is what it is, why we made it, and a dare: level 10, playable right on this page.

Three rules, no numbers, no reading

Each yard is a grid split into colored gardens, with pets scattered across it. You place houses:

  1. One house beside each pet. Up, down, left or right. Never on a diagonal.
  2. One house per row, per column and per garden.
  3. Houses never touch. Not even at the corners.

When the last house lands, every pet hops home, the windows light up and the yard settles into evening. A narrated intro shows the rules on a real yard in about a minute, then a friendly guide stays at your side for the first yards and points to the next move when you stall. After that, it is you and the pets.

Three Snug screens: the narrated intro, the guided first yard, and a Snug! win card with new pets in Pet Town

Can you get past level 10?

Most people breeze through the first nine yards. Yard 10 is the first one that makes you stop and think: it has a pet with only one free side, a garden that forces a column, and a corner that looks safe until it is not. It is still a 5×5, drawn with the app's own pets and homes, with the same controls: tap once to mark a cell, twice to build a house, and placing a house marks off the cells it rules out. Stuck? Hint explains the next deduction instead of just placing the house for you.

If yard 10 took you more than a minute, you will like the next 990.

What is in the box

  • 1,000 Journey yards from 5×5 to 10×10, every one checked by our solver to have exactly one solution, each teaching one new idea. Breather levels and big yards keep the pace fresh.
  • A Daily Yard, the same puzzle for everyone, with streaks and a spoiler-free line you can share.
  • Relax or Challenge. Relax has unlimited mistakes and gentle conflict highlights. Challenge has three hearts and tells you nothing about what went wrong.
  • Pet Town. Every solved yard adopts its pets into a village that grows street by street: dogs, cats, bunnies, foxes, pandas, hedgehogs, owls and frogs, 120+ of them, each with its own kind of home.
  • Smart hints, not spoilers. A hint shows the next clever step and explains it in one line.
  • Made for everyone. Large cells, paint-to-mark controls, unlimited undo, garden patterns for colorblind players, VoiceOver and TalkBack, Dynamic Type, dark mode, iPad and tablet layouts. On Apple Watch there is a playable Pocket Yard and your streak at a glance.
  • A grand finale at yard 1,000, narrated, with every pet you brought home.

Free to start, one purchase for everything

The first 60 Journey yards and today's Daily Yard are always free, on both stores. A single purchase through the App Store or Google Play unlocks everything: all 1,000 yards, unlimited hints, every past Daily Yard and Pet Town decorations. No ads, no subscription, no account, nothing sent anywhere.

On Android we are giving away a batch of free "Unlock Everything" codes to celebrate. One per person, while they last: sign in with Google on allthingsn.com and claim yours.

Why we built it

We wanted the calm of a good pencil puzzle without the numbers, and a reason to come back that is not a timer or a streak-shaming notification. Pets that move into a town you built turned out to be that reason. Every rule in Snug is visible on the board, every yard has one honest answer, and the hints explain the deduction instead of placing the house for you.

Snug is free on the App Store and Google Play today. Tell us how far you got.
