About this app

What Linger does

Free. All features included. Pocket is gone. Linger is the calm replacement. Save any article from Safari, Mail, Messages, or X with the share sheet. Linger strips out the ads, popups, and clutter — leaving just the words. Then it reads them to you, out loud, in a clear natural voice — entirely on your device, with no subscription, no account, and no internet connection required for playback. — Save from anywhere: iOS share-sheet extension. Share a URL → it lands in your Linger queue. — Clean reader view: Mercury-style article extraction renders any web page as beautiful, distraction-free text. Sans or serif, light, dark, or sepia, your line-height and width. — Listen offline: Apple's neural voices (Ava, Zoe, and others) read articles to you. Background playback. Lock-screen controls. Variable speed 0.5x–2x. Resume where you left off. — Highlight + notes: tap-hold to highlight a passage. Add a note. All stored on your device. — Search your library: full-text search across every saved article. — Privacy by default: no account, no email, no analytics SDK, no third-party tracker. Articles are fetched once via your network, parsed on-device, and never uploaded. We don't have a server. Linger is free. Forever. No subscription. Built by All Things AI to give Pocket users somewhere calm to land.

Features

Built to be useful, not noisy.

Save with the share sheet

Linger registers an iOS share extension. From Safari, Mail, Messages, X, or any app, tap Share → Linger. The URL is queued; the article is fetched and parsed in the background.

Distraction-free reader

WKWebView renders article content with reader-mode JavaScript extraction. Strip nav, sidebars, ads. Customize font (sans/serif), size, line-height, width, and theme (light/dark/sepia).

Listen offline

AVSpeechSynthesizer plays any saved article aloud using Apple's neural voices. Works offline once the voice is downloaded. Background playback. Lock-screen controls. Speed 0.5x–2x. Resume from where you stopped.

Highlight + notes

Tap-hold a passage → highlight it. Optionally attach a note. All highlights are searchable and stored on-device.

Library

Chronological list of saved articles with thumbnail, title, source, reading-time estimate, and progress indicator. Filter to unread / archived / favorited. Search across titles + body.

Privacy by default

No account, no email, no analytics SDK, no third-party tracker. Articles are fetched via your network, parsed on-device.

Why it exists

The problem

Mozilla shut down Pocket on July 8, 2025. Raindrop and GoodLinks are bookmark-first, not reading-first, and don't read articles aloud. Apple's Safari has 'Listen to Page' but no queue, library, or curation. There is no free, beaut…

What's different

How Linger stands out

Raindrop has no TTS. GoodLinks has no TTS…

FAQ

Questions about Linger

How much does Linger cost?

Linger is free. All features are included from day one — no subscription, no in-app purchases, no paid tiers. Everything you see in this listing works the moment you install it.

Where does Linger store my data?

On your device. Linger is built privacy-first: no account is required, no analytics SDKs, no third-party trackers. Nothing is uploaded to a server we control — the app works without one.

What platforms does Linger support?

iOS, on iPhone and iPad. You can find the latest availability on this page.

How do I get support for Linger?

Use the Support link on this page, or email support@allthingsn.com. We answer every message and keep responses on the same thread.

Does Linger work offline?

Yes. Once an article is saved, it's parsed on-device and stays available offline — including the read-aloud feature, which uses Apple's neural voices.
