About this app

What Toolshed does

Toolshed is the offline tool inventory and lending tracker built for DIYers, hobbyist makers, and serious home-workshop owners. Add every tool you own — drill, circular saw, pipe wrench — with its category, storage location, estimated value, serial number, and a photo. Then log who borrowed it and when it's due back, so you never lose track of a lent item again. A Home screen shows your full inventory alongside a live "Out on Loan" banner. Tap any tool to see its full record and loan history. LoansView surfaces every open loan sorted by due date, highlighting overdue returns in amber so you know exactly who to nudge. No account. No internet. No subscription required for core use. Built on SwiftData for instant, private storage that lives only on your device. • Tool catalog with category, location, value, serial, photo, and notes • Loan logger with borrower name, lent date, due date, and one-tap return • Overdue alerts and open-loan badge on the app icon • Category and location filters for large inventories • CSV export for insurance or estate records (Pro)

Features

Built to be useful, not noisy.

Tool catalog

Add tools with name, category, location, estimated value, serial number, notes, and an optional photo. Browse and filter the full inventory by category or location.

Loan tracker

Log any tool out to a named borrower with a lent date and due date. Mark it returned with one tap. LoansView lists all open loans sorted by due date, with overdue items highlighted.

Overdue alerts

Automatic local notifications fire on a loan’s due date if the item has not been marked returned, giving the owner a timely nudge.

Inventory dashboard

Home screen shows total tool count, estimated total collection value, and a live “Out on Loan” banner listing open loans at a glance.

Why it exists

The problem

Tool owners lend gear with good intentions and then forget who has what; they also lack a simple way to catalog their collection for insurance purposes or to find which shelf a seldom-used tool lives on. Notes apps and mental lists fail at scale.

What's different

How Toolshed stands out

A purpose-built, fully offline tool inventory paired with a first-class lending tracker — unlike generic inventory apps it speaks the language of tools (categories, locations, serial numbers, loan due dates, overdue alerts) and unlike cloud-based gear-tracking products it requires no account and stores nothing off-dev…
