About this app

What Taskbook does

Every wildland fire qualification lives or dies by a paper booklet. Your Position Task Book rides in a pack through seasons, rolls, and evaluators — and the agencies themselves tell you to keep personal copies, because if the booklet is lost, soaked, or burned, the sign-offs go with it. Taskbook is the offline companion record that makes sure you always know exactly where your quals stand. Pick your position — FFT2, FFT1, ENGB, CRWB, and the rest of the NWCG catalog — and Taskbook loads the full public-domain task list. Check tasks off as evaluators sign them, and record who signed, on which incident, in what trainee assignment, on what date. Photograph the signature page right there on the line with zero signal required: everything is stored on the device and nothing ever needs a network. Open-task visibility is the quiet superpower. A book that crosses three seasons and four incidents becomes impossible to audit from memory; Taskbook shows the exact tasks still unsigned, so you can chase the assignments that close them out. Then there is the red card itself. Your qualification card is only as good as your currency: miss the annual RT-130 refresher window or let the work capacity test lapse and the card dies — often with nobody warning you first. Taskbook keeps countdowns for both, plus any position currency you define, and surfaces everything expiring within 90 days on one dashboard. When a book is complete, generate a clean, dated PDF of the whole record — task by task, evaluator by evaluator — the personal copy the agencies tell you to keep, ready for a new unit, a rehire packet, or an audit years down the road. And when the pack test approaches, the built-in pacing timer splits the 45-minute, 3-mile arduous standard into quarter-mile checkpoints so you know at every marker whether you are on pace. Taskbook is your personal shadow record, not an official system of record — the paper book and agency systems remain the qualification of record. But when you leave an agency, IQCS was never yours to take. This is. • Full NWCG position task lists bundled offline — no login, no signal needed • Sign-off tracking with evaluator, incident, and date on every task • Photo capture of signature pages, stored on-device • Red card currency countdowns for RT-130 and the work capacity test • Open-task view across seasons and incidents • Completed-book PDF export for your permanent personal file • Pack test pacing timer for the 45:00 / 3-mile arduous standard

Features

Built to be useful, not noisy.

Position Task Books

Open a task book for any NWCG position and its full public-domain task list loads offline. Check off each task as it's signed, recording evaluator name and position, incident name and number, and date — with an open-tasks filter that shows exactly what's left unsigned across seasons.

NWCG Position Catalog

A bundled, searchable catalog of NWCG positions (FFT2, FFT1, ENGB, CRWB, HEQB, and more) with each position's task-book structure, so starting a new book is one tap and works with zero signal.

Red Card Currency

Countdown dashboard for the dates that kill a red card: annual RT-130 refresher, work capacity test, and any position-currency windows you define. Anything expiring within 90 days rises to the top with a bold warning treatment.

Sign-Off Photo Vault

Photograph evaluator signature pages on the fireline and Taskbook files each photo against its task and incident, out of the camera roll — the backup the agencies tell you to keep, organized instead of buried.

Book Export & Pack Test

Generate a dated PDF of a completed or in-progress book — every task with its evaluator, incident, and date — for a rehire packet or new agency. Plus a work capacity test pacing timer that splits the 45:00 / 3-mile arduous standard into quarter-mile checkpoints.

Why it exists

The problem

Wildland quals run through a paper Position Task Book carried across seasons collecting evaluator sign-offs, plus a red card that lapses if the annual RT-130 refresher or work capacity test window closes. Agencies explicitly tell trainees to keep personal copies because the agency systems (IQCS/IQS) are agency-owned —…

What's different

How Taskbook stands out

The only digital task-book products — Vector Evaluations Plus and EVALS — are paid B2B platforms sold to departments, whose records belong to the employer and vanish when you leave; IQCS/IQSweb are agency-side systems of record an individual cannot use day-to-day; the status quo is a paper booklet plus photocopies.
