SKYWILD / Privacy Policy

SKYWILD privacy policy

Last updated: November 4, 2026 (version 1.0 for iPhone, TestFlight beta)

The short version

  • Camera images, microphone audio and your location are used on your iPhone to read the sky, and never leave it. We never receive a photo, a sound or a coordinate.
  • Your creatures, Skycards, Almanac and settings are stored on your iPhone.
  • Anonymous product analytics (Google Analytics for Firebase) tell us which features are used and how well the sky reading works. No advertising identifier, no identifier for vendors, no ad personalization, not linked to you, not used for tracking.
  • Nothing is sent to our notification service unless you allow notifications. If you do, your device registers with it only so we can deliver the notifications you chose.
  • Purchases go through Apple; we never see your payment details.
  • No accounts, no ads, no tracking, and we never sell data.

1. Sensors: used on your iPhone, never sent

SKYWILD is a game for iPhone, built by All Things AI, Inc., that reads the real sky to decide which creatures appear. Each sensor is used only while you play, only on the device, and you can say no to any of them and still play.

  • Camera. When you look up, the camera frame is analyzed on the iPhone for cloud cover, cloud texture, haze, sky color and whether you are indoors. The camera is also used to scan Keeper Sigils and gift cards (QR codes). Frames are not uploaded anywhere. A Skycard image is saved only when you make one, and it stays on your iPhone unless you share it yourself. With the camera off, Window Mode shows an illustrated sky instead.
  • Microphone. While you are looking up or scanning, Apple's on-device sound classifier listens for rain, thunder, wind, birds and crickets in one-second windows. Audio is never recorded, never written to storage and never sent anywhere; only the resulting labels (for example "rain heard") are used by the game.
  • Location. Your approximate location (reduced accuracy is enough) is used on the iPhone to work out sunrise, sunset, golden hour, the moon's phase and position, and which hemisphere's seasons you are in. Coordinates are never stored on a server, never sent in analytics and never shared.
  • Motion and barometer. Tilt, heading, steadiness, air pressure (for the "Hunch" weather guess) and whether you are in a moving car (so the game can pause while driving) are read and kept on the iPhone.
  • Photos. If you choose to import a QR code from a picture, only the picture you pick is read, on the device, to decode the code.

2. What stays on your device

Everything the game keeps (the creatures you have befriended, your Skycards and their images, your Almanac, your Aerie, bonded Keepers, recent air-pressure readings, a log of rainy days and every setting) is stored on your iPhone and in your device backups under Apple's protections. We do not run a server that receives it, and we never see it. Deleting the app deletes it.

Keeper identity. On first launch the app creates a signing key that makes your Keeper Sigil and signs the gift cards you give. It is kept in your iPhone's Keychain and, if you use iCloud Keychain, synced by Apple to your own devices so your Sigil survives a reinstall. It never passes through us.

3. Trading with friends

Bonding, gifts and Hybrids happen face to face with QR codes. A Sigil shows only a generated emblem and a short fingerprint of your key; a gift card carries the creature, the recipient's fingerprint and a signature. Nothing is sent through our servers, and there is no chat, no friend list online and no way for strangers to find you. You can unbond or block a Keeper at any time.

4. Anonymous product analytics

SKYWILD uses Google Analytics for Firebase to collect anonymous usage statistics, so we can see what to fix and how well the sky reading works in different places and weather. It collects:

  • which screens and features are used (for example that you looked up, which creature you met or befriended and how many tries it took, that a Skycard was made, that golden hour was joined, and whether a permission was allowed);
  • the sky reading as coarse labels and buckets (for example cloud cover band, cloud texture, haze bucket, whether rain or birds were heard, pressure rising or falling, the time-of-day band and the hemisphere), plus two rounded light measurements; during the beta, also your one-tap answer to "What do you see?" so we can check the reading;
  • the app version, device model and OS version, and a random app-instance identifier generated by Firebase;
  • a coarse location (such as country or region) that Google derives from your IP address.

It never collects images, audio, coordinates, your Keeper fingerprint, the advertising identifier (IDFA), the identifier for vendors (IDFV), your name or anything you type. Ad personalization and ad storage are switched off, this data is not linked to your identity, and it is not used for tracking or advertising. You can turn it off in Settings ("Share anonymous usage stats"). Analytics data is kept for no longer than 14 months.

5. Notifications and Golden Hour

SKYWILD never asks for notification permission when you first open it. It asks once, after you befriend your first creature, or when you choose Settings → Notifications. Golden hour reminders are scheduled on the iPhone itself, and the Golden Hour Live Activity is started on the iPhone when you open the app beforehand; neither sends anything to us.

Until you allow notifications, the app sends nothing to our notification service: no device token and no other information. Once you allow them, the app registers your device with our own notification service, push.allthingsn.com, operated by All Things AI, Inc., so we can tell you about sky events such as meteor showers, solstices and eclipses. It sends:

  • the Apple Push Notification service (APNs) device token;
  • the app version and build, OS version and device class;
  • your language and time zone;
  • your notification permission status and your topic choices (sky events, on unless you turn it off, and product news, off unless you turn it on), plus whether you have the Full Almanac and which hemisphere you are in, so a southern-hemisphere player is not told about a northern sky.

We use this information only to deliver the notifications you chose. It never includes your location, your creatures or anything that identifies you. Device tokens that Apple reports as no longer valid (for example after the app is deleted) are removed. To have your device's record deleted sooner, contact us.

6. Purchases

SKYWILD is free to play, with two optional one-time purchases: the Full Almanac (the Storm, Wind, Fog and Night realms) and the Supporter Lantern (a decoration for your Aerie). There are no subscriptions. Apple processes the payment, keeps the receipt and handles Family Sharing; we never see your payment details or your Apple Account. TestFlight purchases are free and are not charged.

7. Sharing and ratings

Sharing a Skycard or exporting a beta Field Report happens only when you choose to, through the standard share sheet, and goes only where you send it. After a proud moment (such as a first friend in a new realm), SKYWILD may show Apple's standard rating prompt; Apple handles it and we do not see who rated.

8. What we do not do

  • No accounts, email or sign-in.
  • No ads, and no advertising identifier.
  • No uploading of camera images, microphone audio or location.
  • No tracking across other companies' apps or websites.
  • We do not sell your data.

9. Safety, children and families

SKYWILD never asks you to look at the sun, keeps storm play indoors and pauses while you are driving. It has no accounts, no chat and no way to meet strangers, and it asks no one for personal information. The only information that leaves the device is described in sections 4 and 5, and none of it identifies anyone. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have, write to us and we will delete it.

10. Terms of use

Your use of SKYWILD is governed by our Terms of Use and, as an App Store app, by Apple's Standard License Agreement (EULA).

Changes to this policy

If we change how SKYWILD handles data, we will update this page and the "Last updated" date before the new version ships.
