About this app
What Brieflet does
Brieflet is the calm pocket workbench for the ~1 million people who file an immigration case with USCIS every year — and don't want to hand $4,500 to an attorney for what is, structurally, paperwork. Family-based green card cases (I-130 + I-485 concurrent filings, with I-765 work authorization and I-131 advance parole) are the most common path, and the one where the gap between "hire a lawyer" and "pro se" is most painful. Brieflet doesn't replace a lawyer when a case is complex — it makes the straight-line cases (US-citizen-spouse petitions, adjustment of status from a lawful entry, family preference petitions) tractable. What ships in v1: — Path picker: a guided 6-question decision tree (relationship, sponsor citizenship, beneficiary location, last entry, prior filings, criminal history) identifies which forms apply to your situation and which can be filed concurrently. — Forms register: a built-in catalog of the 12 forms most common to family-based cases (I-130, I-130A, I-485, I-485 Supplement A, I-693, I-765, I-131, I-864, I-944, G-1145, G-28, I-589). Each shows current edition date, current filing fee, and a what-you-need checklist. — Document vault: photograph or import each piece of evidence (passport, birth certificate, marriage certificate, tax transcripts, I-94, EAD card). Brieflet runs on-device Vision OCR so your documents are searchable — without leaving your phone. — Case timeline: Filed → Receipt → Biometrics → RFE (if any) → Interview → Decision. Add the dates as they happen. Brieflet computes the gaps so you can see whether your case is processing within USCIS's published norms. — Interview prep: a bundled bank of ~80 typical adjustment-of-status interview questions, organized by case type, with a 'practiced' checkbox so you can study them down. — Fee calculator: select your forms, get a current total in dollars. Updated against the April 2024 fee schedule. — RFE log: if USCIS issues a Request for Evidence, log what they asked for and what you sent, with a 30/60/87-day countdown. — Privacy by default: no account, no analytics, no cloud, no third-party SDK. Documents, OCR text, and case notes never leave your device. — Completely free: no IAPs, no "Pro", no unlock. Brieflet is for the spouse of a US citizen, the adult child of a green-card holder, or any pro se filer who is tired of fragmented USCIS PDFs and overpriced legal services. Brieflet does not give legal advice. It organizes the paperwork. For complex cases (criminal history, prior denials, immigration violations), retain an attorney.

Why it exists
The problem
About 1M immigration cases are filed with USCIS each year. The average attorney charges $3,500–$6,000 for a family-based green card filing. About 30% of filers go pro se. The pro se experience is brutal: USCIS instructions are spread across dozens of PDFs, fee schedules change, edition dates expire, and there is no na…
