What Eggonomics does
Everyone with a backyard flock gets the same question at some point — usually from a spouse: "so what do these eggs actually cost us?" Eggonomics answers it with real numbers. Tally the morning's eggs in two taps, log feed bags and bedding as you buy them, and the app does the arithmetic the 48-page forum spreadsheets have been doing badly for years: cost per egg, cost per dozen, and how that stacks up against the price at your grocery store.
Start by adding your hens — breed, hatch date, photo, and whether she's laying, molting or gone broody — so your daily counts turn into real productivity numbers like eggs per hen per week. A break-even tracker takes your coop and startup costs into account and shows the honest payoff date, not the optimistic one. When a neighbor swears her hens lay for free, you'll have the chart.
The ledger handles the rest of flock life too. Recurring coop chores — deep cleans, waterer scrubs, bedding changes — sit on a simple schedule next to your expenses, so maintenance and money live in one place instead of a calendar, a notes app and a guess.
Eggonomics is 100% offline. No account, no sign-in, no subscription, no cloud that can eat your records when you change phones — everything is stored on your device with SwiftData and never leaves it.
• Two-tap daily egg counter with weekly and monthly charts • Hen roster with laying status and per-hen productivity • Feed, bedding and repair ledger with running totals • True cost per egg and per dozen vs your local store price • Break-even tracker that includes coop startup costs • Recurring coop maintenance schedule • Fully offline and private — your flock, your phone, your data
If your egg log lives in a spreadsheet, a whiteboard or your head, download Eggonomics and finally settle the cost-per-egg debate.

What's inside
- Morning egg tally — A big, glove-friendly counter logs today's eggs in two taps, with backfill for missed days and weekly/monthly production charts that update live.
- Flock & coop — A hen roster with breed, hatch date, photo and laying status (laying, molting, broody, retired) drives per-hen productivity stats; a recurring coop-chore schedule covers deep cleans, bedding changes and waterer scrubs.
- Feed & expense ledger — Log feed bags, bedding, grit, repairs and startup costs by category with amount and date; running monthly and lifetime totals build the cost basis for every calculation.
- Egg-onomics dashboard — True cost per egg and per dozen computed from the ledger and production history, compared side-by-side with a user-entered local store price, plus a break-even tracker that amortizes coop startup costs toward an honest payoff date.
Why we built it
Backyard flock owners have no easy way to answer the one question everyone asks them — what do your eggs actually cost? Real cost-per-egg math requires combining daily egg counts, feed and bedding purchases, startup costs and current store prices; today that lives in sprawling community Excel spreadsheets, while the l…
What makes it different
Where the portfolio's Coopkeep is a flock-health chart (vet-style records), Eggonomics is the flock's accountant: daily production tallies, a feed-and-expense ledger, cost-per-egg vs store price, and a break-even tracker — economics, not health. It likewise differs from Beehive (apiary inspection logs), Horsekeep (hor…
