The short version
Show Me Once is an iPhone, iPad and Apple Watch app built by All Things AI, Inc. The videos you record or import, the transcripts of your narration, the keyframes, guides, drawings and sign-off names are stored only on your device. Show Me Once has no account, no server, no analytics and no advertising. We never receive your videos or guides.
How guides are made
Turning a video into a guide happens entirely on your iPhone or iPad. Speech is transcribed with Apple's on-device speech recognition, and scene changes, on-screen text, faces and personal details are detected with Apple's on-device Vision framework. Show Me Once requires on-device recognition, so your audio is never sent to a server. If your device can't do this (for example, because Dictation is turned off), the app builds the guide from what changes on screen instead.
Privacy blur
Before you share a guide, Show Me Once looks for faces, email addresses, phone numbers, card numbers and names in the keyframes and blurs them. The blur is applied to everything you export. You can turn individual blurs on or off; this all happens on your device.
Permissions and what they are used for
- Camera and microphone: to record a task with your narration inside the app.
- Photos and Files: only the videos you pick are imported, and a video you record is saved to your library only when you ask.
- Speech recognition: to transcribe narration and to hear the voice commands "next", "back", "repeat" and "read it" in follow mode, on the device.
Sharing guides
A guide leaves your device only when you share it: as a PDF, Markdown, a web page or a .showmeonce file, through the iOS share sheet, AirDrop or Files. The recipient gets exactly what you export, with privacy blur applied. We are not involved in that transfer.
Apple Watch
In follow mode, the current step's title and instructions are sent from your iPhone to your paired Apple Watch directly, using Apple's WatchConnectivity. They do not pass through any server of ours.
Deleting your data
Because everything is stored only on your device, you are in control of it. Delete any item inside the app, or delete the app to remove all of its data from that device. If your device backs up to iCloud or your computer, a copy of the app's data is included in that backup under Apple's protections, as with any app; we cannot see or access it. We keep no copy anywhere, so there is nothing for us to delete on a server.
In-app purchases
Show Me Once is free with all features included. There is no in-app purchase, subscription, advertising or paid tier.
Children
Show Me Once is not directed at children under 13, in line with the app's age rating on the App Store.
Changes to this policy
If we ever change how Show Me Once handles data, we will update this page and the "Last updated" date before the new version ships. A change that sends any of your information off your device would be announced in the app first and would require your permission.
