What you can do in MileWay on the web

1

Trip log with the right rate applied

Every trip carries miles, date, from/to, notes and a vehicle; classify it Business ($0.67/mi), Medical ($0.21), Charity ($0.14) or Personal and the deduction is computed for you.

2

In-tab trip timer

Start a trip, MileWay times the drive and turns your start and arrival odometer readings into miles, then drops you straight into the classify form.

3

One-tap saved routes

Save the drives you make often — office to client, warehouse loop, physical therapy — and log today's trip with a single tap at the same miles and category.

4

Vehicles with running odometer

Track several vehicles separately; each shows its trips, miles logged and an odometer estimated from the starting reading you entered.

5

Year stats and tax-season CSV

Pick a year for a deduction hero, monthly deduction bars, a miles-by-category donut and a per-category breakdown, then download an itemised CSV with rate and deduction columns.

6

Everything unlocked, stored locally

No account, no cloud, no subscription — trips, routes and vehicles live in this browser and export as JSON any time.

Questions

Is the web version of MileWay free?+

Yes. Sign in with a free All Things AI account and use every screen — no subscription, no in-app purchases.

Where is my data stored?+

Only in this browser's local storage. Nothing you enter is sent to our servers, so we can't see it, back it up, or restore it. Clearing site data, a private window, or another device starts empty. Export a backup from the in-app menu to keep it.

Do I need an account?+

You can read about the app without one, but you must sign in to open it. Sign-in is free and takes a few seconds with Google.

How is the web version different from the MileWay iPhone app?+

The iPhone app measures distance with CoreLocation GPS; browsers cannot track a drive, so the web version times the trip in this tab and works the miles out from your odometer, or you type them in. The timer only runs while this tab is open — no background tracking. The iPhone app also exports a formatted PDF for your accountant; the web version exports CSV. Rates are the 2024 IRS standard rates as shipped in the iPhone app — confirm the current-year rate before you file.
