What you can do in Opening Trainer on the web
A real board with real rules
Legal move generation, castling, en passant, promotion, check and SAN in and out — the same engine logic as the iPhone app, so you build lines by playing them, not by typing notation.
A card for every move you own
Save a named line with the opponent's replies included and the app creates a drill card for each of your moves, storing the exact position before it.
SM-2 spaced repetition
Right: 1 day, 3 days, then interval × ease, with ease creeping up. Wrong: back to today, ease down 0.2. The positions you keep missing come back soonest.
Drill by playing the move
You are shown the position and play your move on the board. Instant right/wrong, the continuation, and exactly when the card returns.
Repertoire tree and mistake heatmap
Every line in a repertoire merged into one move tree with weak nodes flagged, plus a heatmap of the positions you miss most.
Review history
Reviews per week, a 12-week heatmap and your recall rate, so you can see the deck settling down.

Yes. Sign in with a free All Things AI account and use every screen — no subscription, no in-app purchases.
Where is my data stored?+
Only in this browser's local storage. Nothing you enter is sent to our servers, so we can't see it, back it up, or restore it. Clearing site data, a private window, or another device starts empty. Export a backup from the in-app menu to keep it.
Do I need an account?+
You can read about the app without one, but you must sign in to open it. Sign-in is free and takes a few seconds with Google.
How is the web version different from the Opening Trainer iPhone app?+
Promotions in the line builder default to a queen; the iPhone app lets you pick the piece. There is no PGN or opening-database import — lines are built by playing them on the board, as on iPhone. No engine, no evaluations and no online play, exactly as on iPhone: this is a memory tool for your own repertoire.
