Throughline: You Over Time

A time-lapse of you

Every feature, from the first launch.

No account, no login, no cloud. Everything runs on your device and works fully offline — nothing in this post is hidden behind a wall.

What Throughline: You Over Time does

You already filmed a time-lapse of yourself. It is just scattered across a decade of selfies in your camera roll — the haircut you regret, the year you grew the beard, the graduation, the move, the slow quiet way a face changes when nobody is watching frame to frame. Throughline finds those faces and turns them into a single smooth film of you over the years.

Most "selfie a day" apps ask you to start today and shoot a perfectly framed photo every morning for the next five years. Throughline does the opposite: it mines the selfies you already have. Using Apple's on-device Vision face-landmark detection, it locates the eyes and nose in each picture and computes a similarity transform that registers every face onto one common anchor — so a pile of photos taken at arm's length, in different rooms, at different angles, snaps into a steady, aligned stack. Then it morphs between them with a smooth cross-dissolve, and the result looks like one patient camera that watched you change.

Play the morph with the year ticking by in the corner. Scrub through your own timeline. Trim the odd frame where you blinked or the alignment drifted, pick a date range, drop in a music bed, and export the finished time-lapse as a video you can actually send. It is the kind of clip that stops a group chat cold — because it is unmistakably, specifically you.

Throughline is built for privacy first. There is no account, no upload, and no server. Selfie detection, face alignment, the morph, and the final render all happen on your device. Your face is one of the most personal things you own, and Throughline treats it that way: it never leaves your phone.

• Auto-finds and aligns the selfies already in your library — no daily photo ritual • On-device Vision face landmarks register every face to a common eye-and-nose anchor • Smooth aligned cross-dissolve morph with the year ticking through the film • Scrub your timeline, trim outliers, choose a date range and a music bed • Export a real time-lapse video to share • 100% on-device — no account, no upload, no server

Throughline is a memory and creativity tool. The morph is an artistic blend of your own photographs, not an identity, medical, or forensic-aging product.

Why we built it

'Selfie a day' apps make you shoot aligned photos daily; nothing uses the selfies you already have.

What makes it different

Vision face-landmark detection auto-aligns the selfies already on your phone and morphs them into a smooth time-lapse film.
