Six scenarios, not a grammar course
"My bag is missing", "I'm allergic to nuts", "Could we have the check", "I've lost my passport" — 300 phrases chosen for a short trip, hand-authored rather than machine-translated.
Five languages side by side
Spanish, French, Italian, German and Japanese carry the same six scenarios, so switching languages never changes what you can say.
Tap any word for its literal meaning
Every phrase breaks into chips: tap "maleta" to see "suitcase" and hear that word on its own.
Spoken by your browser's own voices
Each phrase plays in a voice matched to its language, at a speed you set — nothing is recorded and nothing is uploaded.
Japanese with a romanised reading
Every Japanese phrase carries its Romaji reading in monospace under the kana, so you can read it aloud without knowing the script.
Practice, only if you want it
A five-box Leitner deck — ten minutes, tomorrow, three days, a week, three weeks. Miss one and it goes back to the front. That is the entire consequence.

Yes. Sign in with a free All Things AI account and use every screen — no subscription, no in-app purchases.
Where is my data stored?+
Only in this browser's local storage. Nothing you enter is sent to our servers, so we can't see it, back it up, or restore it. Clearing site data, a private window, or another device starts empty. Export a backup from the in-app menu to keep it.
Do I need an account?+
You can read about the app without one, but you must sign in to open it. Sign-in is free and takes a few seconds with Google.
How is the web version different from the Phrasewise iPhone app?+
Audio uses the speech voices your browser already has. If your system has no Japanese or Italian voice installed, that language will be read in whatever voice is available or stay silent — the iPhone app ships Apple's voices for all five. Practice progress lives in this browser only. There is no account and no sync with the phone; export the JSON backup to move it. The phrasebook is fixed at the 300 curated phrases — you cannot add your own phrase or language here.
