What you can do in Japa on the web

1

The 108-bead counter

A large tap circle counts each repetition, a ring fills to 108 and starts again, and malas, beads, beads-in-mala and the sitting timer stay on screen the whole time.

2

A gentle pulse at each mala

Your device vibrates softly on every bead and more firmly when a mala completes, so your eyes can stay closed — with an optional chime if you want one.

3

Unlimited mantras with notes

Name each mantra, keep a personal note on pronunciation or meaning, and set its own daily goal in malas.

4

Daily goal and streak

The Today ring shows every mantra's goal combined; each mantra keeps its own streak of consecutive days the goal was met.

5

Per-mantra history and lifetime totals

Total malas, beads, sittings and practice time, this week's goals met, a seven-day log and a twelve-week practice map.

6

Export your practice

Pull every sitting out as a CSV, or take a full JSON backup of your mantras and history.

Questions

Is the web version of Japa free?+

Yes. Sign in with a free All Things AI account and use every screen — no subscription, no in-app purchases.

Where is my data stored?+

Only in this browser's local storage. Nothing you enter is sent to our servers, so we can't see it, back it up, or restore it. Clearing site data, a private window, or another device starts empty. Export a backup from the in-app menu to keep it.

Do I need an account?+

You can read about the app without one, but you must sign in to open it. Sign-in is free and takes a few seconds with Google.

How is the web version different from the Japa iPhone app?+

Haptics are the browser's vibration API, so they only fire on devices that support it — on a laptop the counter is silent unless you switch the mala chime on. The sitting timer runs while the tab is open; switching tabs or locking the screen can pause it, where the iPhone app keeps counting in the background. Your practice is stored in this browser only, so a different device or a cleared cache starts empty; use the JSON backup to move it across.
