What Coerced Ledger does

Coerced Ledger is the free, account-free, 100% on-device tool for assembling a coerced-debt dispute file — the credit cards, loans, and accounts an abusive partner opened in your name or ran up by force.

As of 2025-2026, eight states give survivors of economic abuse a formal legal path to clear this "coerced debt." New York's law was signed December 19, 2025; Texas HB4238 took effect mid-2025. The process is the same in spirit everywhere: for each account, you submit a sworn statement that the debt was coerced, plus supporting documentation — a police or FTC identity-theft report, a court order, or a letter from an advocate, attorney, or clergy member — and the creditor must stop collecting.

Right now the authoritative way to do this is a fill-by-hand PDF: the Texas Appleseed "Coerced Debt Assessment." You print 18 pages, go through your credit report one account at a time, decide whether each line is fraud or coercion, write the coercive transaction into a table, and plan your action steps by hand. It is a worksheet, not software.

Worse, this is exactly the data you must keep away from the abuser — who very often shares the iCloud or Google account and the device. Every domestic-violence tech-safety guide warns survivors not to put sensitive material in cloud accounts an abuser can reach. So every existing documentation app fails this cohort: DocuSAFE was discontinued in 2023 and was cloud-based anyway; ARC, RUSafe, and VictimsVoice all require an online account and store to the cloud; and none of them even understands coerced debt. The debt apps — DebtWise, Debt Free — are payoff calculators with no concept of coercion, a perpetrator, or a statutory dispute packet.

Coerced Ledger owns the one job nothing else does: turning that fill-by-hand legal worksheet into a guided, private file.

What ships in v1:

— Account-by-account assessment. Add each credit account and answer the guided coercion and fraud questions for it, mirroring the authoritative worksheet. — Perpetrator and method notes. Name how the abuser caused each debt, with a photo of the statement or credit-report line attached — stored only on this device. — Auto-assembled dispute packet per account. A sworn-statement draft and a checklist of the supporting documents that account needs, mapped to the statutory requirements. — Onboarding that explains the new 2025-2026 coerced-debt process and why nothing leaves your phone. — PIN and Face ID lock, plus an instant panic-style wipe. — One combined PDF dispute file you control and can hand to a creditor or advocate.

No login. No cloud. No sync. No analytics. Nothing ever leaves the device — because here, that is the safety feature, not a footnote.

This is a personal documentation and worksheet tool, not legal advice. For survivors of financial abuse building their case, free.

Why we built it

Survivors of financial abuse now have a new (2025-2026) legal process to clear coerced debt, but assembling the required per-account sworn statement plus supporting documentation is only available as a fill-by-hand 18-page PDF worksheet — and the data must be kept off the shared cloud accounts and devices the abuser c…

What makes it different

Coerced Ledger is the only app that runs the coerced-debt assessment as a structured, fully offline workflow — adding each credit account, answering its coercion/fraud questions, naming the perpetrator and method, attaching a photo, and auto-assembling a per-account dispute packet (sworn-statement draft + supporting-d…
