Calm Cards
When the meltdown hits, draw a card.
Every feature, from the first launch.
No account, no login, no cloud. Everything runs on your device and works fully offline — nothing in this post is hidden behind a wall.
What Calm Cards does
Tantrum AI and Better Parent Everyday both promise AI parenting coaches. That's the wrong tool. When your 3-year-old melts down in aisle 7 of Target, you don't need a chatbot — you need a script you can read in 5 seconds with one thumb.
Calm Cards is a deck of 60+ evidence-based de-escalation scripts indexed by age (1-3, 3-5, 5-8) and trigger (transitions, food, bedtime, siblings, separation, sensory, frustration). Each card has:
— A 1-sentence physical action ('Squat down to their eye level. Don't talk yet.') — A 1-sentence script in plain language ('I see you really wanted that. It's hard.') — A 'what NOT to do' (avoid 'calm down', avoid bribes, avoid escalating) — A why-this-works note (limbic vs prefrontal cortex; co-regulation)
Sources cited per card: Whole-Brain Child (Siegel), Magic Years (Fraiberg), Hand-in-Hand Parenting, AAP guidance, Ross Greene's Collaborative Problem Solving.
Two modes: — Search: 'bedtime' or 'won't put on shoes' → cards filtered. — Random draw: just tap, get a card, breathe.
No AI, no chatbot, no account. Just a clean deck of the best parenting research boiled into one-screen cards you can read while your kid is screaming.

Why we built it
In-the-moment toddler meltdowns happen every day. Parents need a 5-second script, not a chatbot conversation. Existing apps (Tantrum AI, Better Parent Everyday) use AI that needs internet, takes time to type a prompt, and gives generic advice. Parenting books are at home on the shelf.
What makes it different
Calm Cards is the only iOS parenting app that's a flat deck of 60+ pre-written scripts indexed by age and trigger — no AI, no chat, no account, no internet. Every card cites its source (book + page where possible). Open the app, get a card, use it. Search or draw. Existing AI parenting apps require time and connection…
Who it's for
Hobbyists who want a tool that respects their time, their gear, and their offline life.
